Black Cloister Brewing Company is a hotspot in the heart of Toledo, OH. They have created a standout experience with their award winning craft beers and the connection made within the community.

With the business continuing to grow, the company granted me the opportunity to design for their newest brew, HopSmaak. The challenge was to create an identity that differed from past designs that could appeal to their current customers, and attract a younger generation.

When discussing concepts with Black Cloister, we landed on a comic book theme for HopSmaak. Comic books have been a phenomenon in pop culture with bold illustrations, beloved characters, and witty dialogue. This matches the flavors found with HopSmaak; but more importantly, comics have been responsible for bridging the gap between generations. Whether you grew up reading about your favorite superheroes or seeing them on the big screen, there is something for everyone.
